We need to invest in water to create new jobs in our farming sector.
That’s why the Central Queensland LNP Team is leading the cause to build the Rookwood Weir, just west of Rockhampton.
Rookwood Weir will create up to 2,100 jobs in Central Queensland, and will double agricultural production in the Fitzroy Basin.
During the election campaign, we have secured $132 million towards fast-tracking Rookwood Weir and creating thousands of jobs.
This project will stimulate billions of dollars worth of economic investment in agriculture near Rockhampton, and industrial exports via the Port of Gladstone.
We are fighting to ensure the Urannah Dam goes ahead.
Strong advocacy from the Central Queensland LNP Team has secured $3 million for the project, which will fund pre-planning work.
Urannah Dam has the potential to create 6,000 construction and farming jobs in our region.
This project will open-up an estimated 12,000 to 30,000 hectares of agricultural land.
This will also secure water for the Galilee Basin, further strengthening Adani’s prospects for the Carmichael Mine.
Urannah Dam will also ensure water security for our region.
More water infrastructure
We have also secured $400,000 towards planning work on raising the Burdekin Dam Wall, and almost $2 million to upgrade the capacity of the Burdekin Haughton Channel.
Further to this, the Federal Government will spend $200,000 fixing Clermont’s water infrastructure.
